Dorra Zarrouk is a Tunisian actress who started out as a model in 1997 and joined the Tunisian theater troupe El Teatro under director Taoufik Jebali in 2000. She attended acting workshops led by Fadhel Jaibi and Nawal Skandrani, and she holds an advanced degree in political science. Her first film role came in Khorma by Jilani Saadi in 2002, and Mohamed Damak cast her in La Villa in 2004.
In 2007 she began working in Egyptian cinema and television, and she goes by the single name Dorra there. Series such as Zay El Ward and Segn El Nessa made her a familiar face, and the film Whispering Sands followed in 2018. Her trophy shelf holds Dream TV’s Newcomer of the Year prize from 2007 and Best Arab Actress from the Academy of Sciences and Technology of Alexandria in 2012. The Beirut Golden Awards gave her an achievement award in 2018, and 2022 brought both a Washwasha Award for Best Actress for El-Kahen and a Forbes Middle East Career Achievement Award.

Dorra Zarrouk Lights Up the Ninth El Gouna Film Festival

Photographers lined the red carpet at the ninth El Gouna Film Festival, and Dorra Zarrouk gave them plenty to shoot. She posed side-on to the cameras and kept one hand resting at her hip, her dark hair falling in long glossy waves past her shoulders. Her gaze drifted off to the side as the shutters clicked, which gave everybody a full look at the gown and the long train trailing behind her. A rose and coral backdrop glowed behind her and a deep red carpet lay beneath her feet, so the burgundy of her outfit had a gorgeous stage all to itself. Burgundy is a deep, juicy shade that flatters warm skin and dark hair, and she wore it like a pro. Honestly, the whole scene looked like a magazine page come to life.

A Sculptural Tony Ward Gown in Burgundy

Let’s talk about the dress, because it earns plenty of praise. Tony Ward, the Lebanese couture house famous for dramatic evening wear, gave her an off-the-shoulder gown topped by satin folds draped around the shoulders. The bodice glitters in rippling wave patterns of beadwork, and the color melts from deep wine at the bust into champagne and sand toward the hem.

The beadwork looks like hours of patient handwork, and the wavy lines on the bodice echo the ripples on the skirt below. Pale bands of beaded fringe ripple down the skirt, and a swinging fringe finishes the bottom edge, so the hem looks lively even in a single frame. The skirt follows her figure in a slim column, and a satin train in the same wine shade flows down from one side to the floor for a dramatic sweep.

Dorra Zarrouk and the Ferozah Jewellery Finishing Touch

Ferozah Jewellery supplied the shine. A pendant earring dangles beside her face and catches the light as she turns her head. A slim bracelet wraps around her wrist, and a ring gleams on the hand resting at her hip.

The jewelry is small and bright, which leaves the gown free to take the spotlight, and the warm metallic gleam of the pieces echoes the champagne tones in the skirt. Jewelry this delicate suits a gown covered in texture, since a heavy necklace would have fought the beading on the neckline. It is a smart pairing, and it makes the whole outfit look planned from the earring to the hem.

Nine Days of Cinema on the Red Sea

The ninth El Gouna Film Festival runs from 15 to 23 October 2026 under the banner 9 Years of Stories. Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris founded the festival in 2017, and the Red Sea resort town of El Gouna, about 25 kilometres north of Hurghada, hosts it. Festival Plaza is the hub for galas and red carpet evenings, and Intishal Al Timimi serves as festival director and Amir Ramses as artistic director.

Guests can also look forward to open-air screenings and town venues spread between Abu Tig Marina and Downtown. The top prize, the El Gouna Gold Star for a Narrative Film, is worth USD 50,000. The festival also champions new voices by way of its CineGouna platform, which supports filmmakers from the region and invites them to meet international counterparts. Nine days of premieres and parties make this one of the liveliest dates on the cinema calendar.

A Familiar Face on the El Gouna Carpet

Dorra Zarrouk has a lovely history on this carpet. At the third edition in 2019 she wore a pink gown by Michael Cinco on opening night, and a silver off-the-shoulder design by Sadek Majed for the screening of Adam. In 2021 she chose a voluminous grey gown by Maison Yeya and jewelry from Yessayan for the fifth edition. That pink look from 2019 was a big hit, and the grey gown in 2021 gave her a cool, silvery glow.
Harper’s Bazaar Arabia put three of her 2025 outfits on its best dressed list, so her fashion game has been strong for years. Tony Ward knows this carpet well too, having dressed stars here in 2024 and 2025. This year’s burgundy creation adds another chapter to the story, and it is a fabulous one. Here is hoping the festival keeps handing her gowns like this one for many more editions to come. Congratulations to the whole styling team too.
