Maya Diab is a Lebanese singer, actress, and television presenter who was born in Achrafieh, Beirut, as the youngest child in her family. She studied radio and TV media at the Lebanese University. At sixteen, she won the gold medal for fashion at Studio El Fan, the well-known Lebanese talent contest, in 1996. Two years later, in 1998, she competed in Miss Lebanon. In 2001, she returned to Studio El Fan to compete in the TV presenting category, a move that opened the next door in her story.
That door led to The 4 Cats, the famous Lebanese girl group she joined in 2001. She performed with the band for nearly a decade, touring the Arab world and starring alongside Egyptian comedian Hany Ramzy in the 2007 film Asad W Arbaa Kotat.
In 2010, she launched her solo career. She took her first major television presenting job on the MTV Lebanon program Heik Menghanni in 2011 and later released her debut solo album, #MyMaya, in 2015. Known for her striking style, the Arab Fashion Council named her the "Fashion Icon of the Arab World" in October 2020, where she declared the 12th Arab Fashion Week open in a special address. The high-street retailer Splash Fashions later welcomed her as its official brand ambassador and face.
Maya Diab Closes Dubai Fashion Week
Have you seen this masterpiece? Maya Diab closed Tarun Tahiliani's show at Dubai Fashion Week for the spring and summer 2027 season, and the tent at Dubai Design District got a finale worth talking about for days. Her walk was pure elegance spiked by a kick of feistiness and a generous dose of sass, and every guest could tell she owned that runway.
Tahiliani named the collection Many Moods of Tarun Tahiliani, and she wrapped up five days of shows in silver. Her smile said she knew her own power, and the crowd gave her every cheer she deserved. Of all the breathtaking pieces on that carpet, hers was the jewel of the line, and she has every right to wear that title.
A Lehenga Made to Glow
Start at the skirt. The high waisted silver grey lehenga flowed all the way to the floor, covered in intricate motifs and dense embellishment, and a heavily decorated border caught every flash of light. The fabric is ever so delicate, yet the embroidery is lavish, and that mix is the whole magic of the garment.
A fitted blouse came next, cut in a sweetheart neckline and slim shoulder straps. Dense embroidery and glittering embellishment filled the bodice, so the top told its own detailed story. Then came the finishing touch, a sheer embellished dupatta draped on her shoulders and cascading down both sides. Every step sent the whole ensemble shimmering, and the singer wore every inch of it proudly.
Jewels and a Glossy Pink Lip
Her accessories were striking and elegant. A layered choker of pearls and diamonds hugged her neck, and matching dangling earrings swung at every step. A statement matha patti and maang tikka crowned her forehead, a graceful salute to traditional Indian jewellery that gave the silver outfit a ceremonial glow.
Her long blonde hair fell in voluminous loose waves, parted close to the middle and resting on her shoulders. Her makeup glowed in smoky eyeshadow and warm blush on sculpted cheeks. A glossy pink lipstick finished the face, and the whole beauty look echoed the luminous finish of the outfit and let the embroidery lead the show.
Why Maya Diab Was Tahiliani's Pick
Here is the fun part. This was Tahiliani's first Dubai Fashion Week, and a Bollywood star would have been the obvious guess. He went another way. "We wanted someone who represented the Arab world," he explained, and the choice turned out to be a delight.
Maya Diab is a major name in every corner of the Gulf, so guests from the city had an instant favorite to cheer for. Tahiliani believes his clothes are the stars of every show, and a singer who is beloved in the region gave the new market a friendly face to greet the brand. He also loves that a garment in motion tells the honest story of its craftsmanship, and a seasoned eye can judge quality from a few feet away. Her silver finale proved it beautifully, because the clothes and the woman wearing them spoke the same language.
Many Moods and a Dubai Store
The closing night capped a week of runway shows at Dubai Design District that began on October 22, and it ended on a truly high note. The collection joined Indian artisanal craft and Arab couture in fluid drapes, intricate detail and modern silhouettes. The palette glowed in mustard, vivid orange, bronze, crimson and burgundy, and flashes of velvet green and regal white added a bright finishing touch to the line.
Tunics came in high collars and wide leg trousers, and cape dresses and kaftans swept the carpet in generous volume. Layered robes and long jackets showed tassel details and mandarin collars. Five special looks formed his homage to the Arabian woman, his own interpretation of the abaya, which brought the evening to an emotional peak.
Tahiliani is the first Indian designer to show at Milan Fashion Week, and now he is about to open his first Dubai store. The city already has a loyal clientele, so this finale was a warm hello and a promise of good things ahead. As Maya Diab glided down the runway in silver, the message was joyful and bright: Indian craft and Arab style look gorgeous together.
