Roblox has launched full Arabic language support, making the popular gaming platform accessible to millions of players across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the broader MENA region. CEO and co-founder David Baszucki made the announcement at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on February 12, 2025, during a fireside chat at the three-day event.
Roblox Arabic Launch: What Baszucki Said
"At Roblox, we have a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility — and to do that we need a platform that is accessible for all," Baszucki said. "With the growth of our community here in the UAE and in the wider MENA region, we are excited to share that we are now supporting the Arabic language on the Roblox software stack."
Arabic becomes the 16th language supported on the platform, joining a list that spans major global scripts. The Arabic version is available immediately on all platforms: desktop, iOS, Android, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Rapid MENA Growth Drives the Expansion
The Arabic language launch follows extraordinary growth in the Middle East. From Q3 2021 to Q3 2024, Roblox's daily active users (DAUs) across five MENA countries — including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar — grew by an average of 80%. Hours engaged over the same period climbed 76%.
Globally, Roblox reached 88.9 million daily active users in 2024. In terms of app store rankings, Roblox ranked second among gaming apps on the Apple App Store and fifth on Google Play.
Better Tools for Arabic-Speaking Creators
The update goes beyond interface translation. Game creators now have access to automatic Arabic translation tools, allowing them to make their experiences playable by Arabic speakers without manual localization work. Roblox's text chat filtering system has also been updated to operate in Arabic, blocking inappropriate content and improving safety and moderation for the region's players.
Economic Impact on the UAE and MENA
An economic impact study by Access Partnership, conducted in partnership with Roblox and titled "Empowering the Region's Gaming Ecosystem: The Economic Impact of Roblox in MENA," found that Roblox's contributions to GDP across the MENA region increased by 55% year-on-year in 2024. The findings highlight the platform's growing role in the region's digital economy.
