On April 25, the city gets a one-day celebration with live performances, a graffiti bus, and a live graffiti wall created in real time by a fan artist working directly from the official film visuals. Two Locations, One Day
The day kicks off at City Centre Mirdif at 4:00 PM. The second stop is Mall of the Emirates at 7:00 PM. Both locations feature live performances, the graffiti bus as a visual centrepiece, and the live graffiti wall where a fan artist gets to work in real time at each stop. You can literally watch the art happen as you walk through. It is the kind of activation that does not repeat itself the following weekend.
What the Michael Jackson Dubai Celebration Includes
The live graffiti wall is the centrepiece of the whole day. At each mall stop, a fan artist will be on-site creating pieces taken from official artwork produced for the “Michael” film. The art references the film’s official visuals directly, so there is a real connection between what you are watching being made and what is showing on cinema screens right now. The graffiti bus adds to the visual set-up at both locations, and live performances run throughout both stops. This is not a standard movie promo.
About the “Michael” Film
“Michael” is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson, the son of Jermaine Jackson and nephew of the late King of Pop, in the title role. The film follows Michael Jackson’s journey from his early years with the Jackson 5 through his rise as the biggest entertainer on the planet. The supporting cast includes Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, and Miles Teller as entertainment lawyer John Branca. The film is produced by Graham King, who also produced “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It is now showing at Vox Cinemas locations in the UAE.
Who Is Jaafar Jackson?
Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson and the nephew of the late Michael Jackson. He grew up around the music industry but largely stayed out of the public eye. His casting in “Michael” drew significant attention for his close physical resemblance to his uncle. “Michael” is his feature film debut, and early reactions have specifically highlighted how well he captures the look and stage presence of the King of Pop.
