The UAE is set for a landmark musical moment as Sunburn Festival, Asia's largest and most iconic electronic dance music (EDM) event, makes its Abu Dhabi debut in December 2026. The announcement has already generated huge buzz across the region, with fans anticipating world-class headliners, high-energy performances, and the festival's signature immersive stage production.
Organisers revealed the news on Instagram, confirming a partnership between BookMyShow, India's leading ticketing platform, and Ethara, one of the UAE's premier live event companies — the same team behind the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi After-Race concerts and Saadiyat Nights.
Global Reputation, Iconic Legacy
Launched in Goa nearly two decades ago, Sunburn has grown into one of the world's top 10 EDM festivals, ranked #8 globally by DJ Mag. Over the years it has welcomed international heavyweights including Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Swedish House Mafia, Marshmello, Alan Walker, and David Guetta — who headlined the 2025 Mumbai edition.
Now, for the first time in festival history, Abu Dhabi's Sunburn edition will run simultaneously with the flagship Indian event, giving fans in both countries synchronised performances and an equally star-studded experience across two time zones.
What to Expect at Sunburn Abu Dhabi 2026
While official details on the line-up, ticket sales, and venue are yet to be revealed, the track record of past Sunburn editions points to:
- Top-tier EDM headliners and breakthrough DJs - Iconic stage setups and pyrotechnics - A vibrant atmosphere combining the UAE's global stage with India's festival legacy
David Powell, Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer at Ethara, said: "Abu Dhabi is an established beacon for global live entertainment, and we look forward to bringing Sunburn Festival to the city. Together with BookMyShow, we aim to deliver the same world-class production and energy that has made Sunburn a global phenomenon."
Abu Dhabi's Rise as a Global Music Hub
The arrival of Sunburn adds to Abu Dhabi's growing portfolio of international festivals, joining the likes of Wireless Festival Middle East and Korea's Dream Concert, both of which recently brought major global acts to the capital.
With its proven track record for world-class events and strong tourism appeal, Abu Dhabi is firmly positioning itself as a premier destination for live music and cultural experiences — making the 2026 Sunburn debut one of the most anticipated events in the region.
Further announcements on ticketing, venues, and artist lineups are expected in the coming months.
