Dubai is set to host the World Green Economy Summit 2025 on October 1 and 2 at the World Trade Centre, marking another milestone in the emirate's commitment to sustainability and green innovation. The 11th edition of WGES is organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO) under the theme: Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.
What Is WGES 2025?
WGES 2025 will bring together leading practitioners, global innovators, government officials, and climate change experts to accelerate the transition to a sustainable green economy. The summit pays particular attention to the needs of developing regions, international cooperation, and the relationship between governments and businesses.
Seven Strategic Pillars of the Summit
The programme is structured around seven thematic pillars:
Technology & Innovation — Emphasising the role of AI, the Internet of Things, and smart systems in achieving climate resilience, predictive analytics, and the deployment of green technologies.
Clean & Renewable Energy — Exploring pathways such as green hydrogen, peaceful nuclear energy, and energy storage to meet growing global energy demand.
Policy & Regulation — Analysing shifts in climate policy, carbon market mechanisms, and regulatory developments across major economies.
Finance — Addressing how to fund climate action, expand renewable energy projects, and define the future of carbon credits.
Climate Equity — Protecting vulnerable communities by ensuring fair access to food, water, and clean air, with innovations such as agrivoltaics and AI-based agriculture as key tools.
Adaptation & Resilience — Examining strategies to manage climate impacts, including nature-based recovery, early warning systems, and community resilience measures.
Youth in Climate Action — Fostering environmental entrepreneurship, citizen-led movements, and sustainable capitalism among younger generations.
Dubai's Role in the Global Green Transition
The World Green Economy Summit 2025 is positioned to be a significant milestone in global climate action, reinforcing Dubai's standing as a hub for sustainability dialogue and green policy. With DEWA and WGEO at the helm, WGES 2025 aims to translate high-level discussion into tangible commitments for a greener global economy.
