The programme runs from the start of the holy month until the 24th of Ramadan, providing meals to commuters and low-income individuals at no cost.
Free Iftar Meals at Dubai Metro Stations
The RTA's metro-station iftar initiative is specifically designed to reach people who pass through high-traffic transit hubs at sunset — commuters, workers heading home, and individuals who cannot afford their own iftar. Meals are distributed directly at metro stations, making access straightforward for the thousands of riders who use the network daily.
The partnership with noon Food brings logistical and supply-chain support to the programme, ensuring consistent meal delivery at scale throughout the Ramadan period.
Who Benefits From the Programme
The free iftar distribution targets several groups:
- Bus operators and drivers - Delivery riders and truck drivers - Labourers and blue-collar workers - Low-income individuals and residents
RTA also runs a parallel 'Meals on Wheels' initiative that distributes iftar to workers in labour accommodations and to abra (water taxi) commuters — extending the reach of the programme beyond the metro network.
20 Ramadan Community Events Across Dubai
The free metro iftar is part of a broader RTA Ramadan programme comprising 20 community initiatives under the theme 'Family is where we belong'. Activities take place at:
- RTA headquarters - Metro stations across Dubai - Marine transport hubs
Other highlights of the programme include the 'Iftar Saem' project in partnership with Beit Al Khair Society, distribution of 500 nol cards to eligible low-income families timed to Zayed Humanitarian Day, and Ramadan food rations for around 1,000 families. The full campaign involved 241 volunteers in iftar preparation drives.
In total, RTA's 20 Ramadan 2025 initiatives reached more than 55,000 individuals across Dubai.
