Netflix India has unveiled Rakt Bramhand – The Bloody Kingdom, its first action-fantasy series, created in partnership with acclaimed filmmaker duo Raj & DK. The announcement marks a significant milestone for Indian streaming, bringing together some of the country's most visionary creative talents.
Raj & DK Lead Netflix India's First Action-Fantasy Series
Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK — collectively known as Raj & DK — will serve as showrunners on Rakt Bramhand. The duo brings in director Rahi Anil Barve, best known for the critically acclaimed horror-fantasy film Tumbbad (2018), to helm the series. Long-time collaborator Sita R. Menon joins as writer, working under D2R Films, the duo's production company.
The series promises dramatic action sequences set against spectacular visuals of an elaborate, imaginary kingdom — a world built from scratch for the screen.
The Creative Team Behind the Project
Raj & DK have established themselves as leaders in Indian entertainment. Their filmography includes originals such as 99, Shor in the City, and Go Goa Gone, along with streaming hits The Family Man and Farzi, the latter airing on Prime Video. In 2022, the duo signed an extended creative deal with Netflix.
Rahi Anil Barve brings a proven track record with large-scale fantasy. Tumbbad earned widespread critical praise for its singular visuals and storytelling, screening at the Venice Critics' Week, Fantastic Fest, Busan, and the BFI London Film Festival.
Sita R. Menon has been a trusted writing partner for Raj & DK across several of their D2R Films productions, including Farzi, adding confidence that Rakt Bramhand will match the complexity fans expect.
Raj & DK on Building a World Never Seen Before
The creators shared their vision for the series:
> "It has never been attempted before, which is why it would be so exciting; what we're really striving to do is to construct an entire world that is nonetheless somewhat familiar, like the fairy tales that you made up in your head as a child, or the films that you wished existed."
Production on Rakt Bramhand is set to begin soon. No release date has been confirmed yet, but the announcement has generated significant excitement ahead of filming.
