Dubai's dining scene got a serious upgrade on June 19 as Mr Chow — the legendary Beijing-cuisine restaurant that has fed The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Jay-Z, and Bella Hadid — officially opened its doors at the Gate District in DIFC. The city's most talked-about new table is here, and it delivers exactly the theatrical, glamour-soaked experience the brand's global reputation promises.
Mr Chow Dubai: Eight Locations, One Legend
Founded on Valentine's Day 1968 in Knightsbridge, London, by British-Chinese restaurateur Michael Chow, the restaurant built its name on refined Beijing-style cuisine served with impeccable theatre. Over more than five decades it attracted a constellation of celebrity regulars — Federico Fellini, Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger, and more recently Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, Martha Stewart, and Snoop Dogg.
The Dubai outpost is the brand's eighth location worldwide and its second in the Middle East, following a successful opening in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District. It occupies the former Indochine space at Precinct Building 3, Gate District, DIFC — a fitting stage for a restaurant that has always treated dinner as performance art.
What to Expect at Mr Chow DIFC
Mr Chow is more than a restaurant — it is a performance. Daily noodle-pulling demonstrations, a roving Champagne trolley, and a sharply choreographed service team turn every visit into a special occasion. The interiors blend contemporary art with classical grandeur, creating an atmosphere as suited to a power lunch as to a celebratory night out.
Must-Try Dishes on the Menu
The menu is built for sharing, with Beijing flavours elevated to their most polished form. Signature dishes include:
- Beijing Duck — the house classic, ceremonially carved tableside - Mr Chow Noodles — hand-pulled to order, a theatrical centrepiece - Creamy Chicken Satay — a silky, crowd-pleasing staple - Ma Mignon — tender beef that has appeared on the menu since the London original
Every dish is designed for the table to share, honouring the communal spirit of traditional Beijing dining.
