Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, recently toured Abu Dhabi Summer Sports 2024 at the ADNEC Centre — a sprawling annual event that has grown into one of the city's most popular active-lifestyle fixtures.
Sheikh Nahyan Praises Event's Ambition and Organization
The event is organized by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and runs until 23 August 2024. Upon arriving, Sheikh Nahyan was briefed by His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, on the event's scope and programming.
Sheikh Nahyan praised the high level of organization and the planning efforts made to deliver an exceptional experience for all participants. He added that Abu Dhabi Summer Sports embodies the spirit of tolerance and human brotherhood — values that align directly with his ministerial mandate.
What Abu Dhabi Summer Sports 2024 Offers
Now in its third edition, Abu Dhabi Summer Sports 2024 covers more than 34,000 square metres at the ADNEC Centre — a 25 percent increase over previous years. The central message remains "sport for all": making physical activity an accessible and enjoyable part of everyday life for residents of every age and fitness level.
Three new activities debut this year: action cricket, tennis, and an obstacle course. These join a strong lineup of returning sports including football, padel, a one-kilometre running track, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, and a Technogym functional fitness area.
Community and Wellness at the Core
Beyond competitive sport, Abu Dhabi Summer Sports 2024 incorporates wellness programmes featuring health screenings and dietary planning. A kids' summer camp — running Monday through Friday throughout the season — offers activities ranging from sport to arts and crafts, making the event a family destination as much as an athletic one.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council's goal is clear: sport should be a basic component in the life of every resident, enhancing quality of life and strengthening social bonds across the community.
