Dubai is set to host one of amateur golf's most prestigious events for the second time. The 16th Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship will take place at Emirates Golf Club from October 23 to 26, 2025, bringing the region's top amateur talent to the iconic Majlis Course.
What Is the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship?
Organized jointly by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), the Masters Tournament, and The R&A, the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship is the top amateur golf event in the Asia-Pacific region. The 2025 edition marks the tournament's return to the Middle East — its debut in the region came at the same Dubai venue in 2021.
The field comprises ten players from each of the 43 APGC member organizations, bringing together the finest amateur golfers from across the Asia-Pacific zone.
High Stakes: Masters and Open Championship Spots on the Line
The champion earns coveted exemptions into two of golf's biggest stages: the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National and The 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. These automatic berths make the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship one of the most consequential amateur events in the world.
Past winners who have gone on to distinguished professional careers include Hideki Matsuyama, Cameron Smith, and Keita Nakajima — three players who used the platform to launch their journeys to the top of the game.
Emirates Golf Club: A World-Class Venue
The tournament will be played on the Majlis Course, a landmark layout designed by Karl Litten and established in 1988 as the first grass golf course in the Middle East. Situated south of downtown Dubai with views of the city skyline, the Majlis Course is best known as the annual home of the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic.
The course has hosted legends including Seve Ballesteros, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Ernie Els, who holds the course record of 61.
UAE Golf Federation Welcomes the Championship
General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, expressed strong enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its role in showcasing the best amateur talent in the region and reinforcing Dubai's standing as a premier destination for international golf.
The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship 2025 is set to be a landmark occasion for the sport in the UAE, combining world-class competition with one of the game's most storied amateur traditions.
