Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching a new intercity bus service from 2 May 2025: Route E308, connecting Stadium Bus Station in Dubai directly to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah. The one-way fare is set at AED 12, making the cross-emirate commute both accessible and affordable for residents travelling between the two cities.
Route E308: Dubai to Sharjah for AED 12
The new Dubai RTA bus route E308 fills a key gap in the intercity public transport network, giving commuters a direct, budget-friendly connection between Dubai and Sharjah without relying on private taxis or ride-hailing apps.
Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA's Public Transport Agency, described the launch as part of a broader strategy: the authority aims to increase the number of bus routes in Dubai while strengthening links to the metro, tram, and marine transport network. "Enhancing intermodal connectivity is central to positioning public transport as the preferred choice for mobility across the emirate," Shakeri said.
Passengers must use a NOL card to board, which can be purchased at metro stations, bus stations, and authorised retailers across Dubai.
13 Existing Routes Modified from 2 May 2025
Alongside Route E308, the RTA is implementing changes to 13 existing bus routes. The modifications cover terminus relocations, extensions, rerouting, and new stops:
Terminus changes: - Route 17 — Now terminates at Baniyas Square Metro Station (previously Al Sabkha Bus Station) - Route E16 — Now terminates at Union Bus Station (previously Al Sabkha Bus Station)
Route extensions: - Route 44 — Extended to serve Dubai Festival City via Al Rebat Street - Route 56 — Extended to DWC Staff Village - Route F54 — Extended to JAFZA South labour camp
New stops: - Routes 66 & 67 — New stop added at Al Ruwayah Farm area
Stop relocations: - Route C26 — Stop moved to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2 - Route F27 — Stop relocated to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2 - Route X92 — Stop moved to Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 1
Rerouting: - Route 24 — Rerouted within the Al Nahda 1 area - Route F12 — Section between Al Satwa Roundabout and Al Wasl Park curtailed; rerouted via Kuwait Street - Route F47 — Rerouted within Jebel Ali Industrial Area
Service curtailment: - Route 32C — Service between Al Jafiliya and Al Satwa Bus Stations curtailed; passengers are directed to use Route F27 as an alternative
RTA's Push to Make Public Transport the First Choice
The combined package of changes — the new E308 and modifications to 13 routes — reflects the RTA's ongoing drive to make public buses a competitive alternative to private vehicles. By tightening connections between bus services and metro, tram, and marine transit, the authority is working to reduce journey times and improve the daily commute for residents across Dubai and into Sharjah.
All changes take effect from Friday, 2 May 2025.
