Dubai International Airport has launched a new baggage service centre in Terminal 2 that can locate and return lost luggage in under five minutes — a significant step forward for one of the world's busiest transit hubs.
Where to Find the DXB Lost Luggage Service Centre
The new baggage service centre is located near the baggage reclaim belts, directly opposite Exit 2 in Terminal 2. It operates around the clock — 24 hours a day, seven days a week — so passengers arriving on late-night or early-morning flights can access help immediately.
How the 5-Minute Baggage Recovery Works
Once a passenger provides a physical description of their bag and its luggage tag number, staff can quickly trace and retrieve the item. The streamlined process is the result of a coordinated partnership between four organisations: Dubai Airports, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, and dnata ground services.
By consolidating left-luggage storage and mishandled baggage handling under one roof, the centre eliminates the back-and-forth that previously cost passengers time. The integrated approach is designed to "decrease time taken during handling the task and improve passenger experience throughout the airport."
Damaged Bags and Stopover Storage Also Covered
The centre's services go beyond simple lost-luggage recovery. Passengers whose bags were damaged during a flight can report the issue on the spot and access replacement services immediately.
Transit travellers with a stopover in Dubai can also drop their bags at the centre and collect them before their next departure — allowing them to explore the city hands-free without worrying about their luggage.
A Smoother Airport Experience
Dubai Airports has described the facility as part of its broader effort to enhance safety and reduce waiting times for guests, making the overall experience at DXB smoother and more efficient. The service is free of charge.
For passengers passing through Terminal 2 — whether arriving, departing, or transiting — the centre is a practical first stop if anything goes wrong with your bags.
