Emirates has deployed its refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft on six new US routes, bringing its celebrated Premium Economy cabin to American passengers who previously couldn't access it on these destinations. The rollout runs from November 2024 into early 2025, covering Chicago, Boston, Dallas Fort Worth, Seattle, Newark (via Athens), and Miami (via Bogotá).
Four-Cabin Boeing 777 Comes to the US
The retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER offers four cabin classes: First Class (6–8 suites), Business Class (38–40 seats in a 1-2-1 flat-bed configuration with minibar), Premium Economy (24 seats), and Economy (256 seats). Passengers on Business Class gain fully reclining flat beds and an enhanced onboard experience compared to previous aircraft on these routes.
Premium Economy on the Boeing 777 was already available to Emirates passengers flying to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston on A380 aircraft. The new deployment extends that product to ten of Emirates' twelve US gateways by February 2025.
Route-by-Route Launch Schedule
Emirates is introducing the retrofitted Boeing 777 on a phased schedule:
- Chicago (EK 235/236): Three weekly flights from November 1, 2024; daily from November 22, 2024 - Boston (EK 237/238): Three weekly from December 10, 2024; daily from December 18, 2024 - Dallas Fort Worth (EK 221/222): Three weekly from January 9, 2025; daily from January 15, 2025 - Seattle (EK 229/230): Service begins January 24, 2025 - Newark/Athens (EK 209/210): Daily service from February 10, 2025 - Miami/Bogotá (EK 213/214): Four weekly flights from February 19, 2025; expanding to daily from March 1, 2025
Premium Economy Reaches 27 Global Destinations
The US expansion is part of a broader Emirates push to grow its Premium Economy network. By end of 2024, the airline plans to operate the product across 27 international destinations using a fleet of 48 aircraft spanning the Boeing 777, A380, and A350. The initiative reflects Emirates' strategy to deliver value-added service at a price point between Business Class luxury and standard Economy.
For US travellers, the Boeing 777 Premium Economy rollout means more routes — and more departure dates — now offer a meaningful upgrade from Economy without the full cost of a Business Class ticket.
