Etihad Rail’s premium passenger cabins offer an early look at how higher-tier train travel will work across the UAE. First revealed as a business-class concept in 2024, the commercial service now operates with Comfort Class and Premium Class options, with introductory fares starting from AED55 and AED120 respectively on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route.

Passenger services began in phases on June 30, 2026. Dubai and Al Dhaid stations are scheduled to join the network on September 30, followed by Al Dhafra in December 2026 and Sharjah in March 2027.

Etihad Rail Business Class Cabin Design

The business class cabin shown in the video features eight seats wrapped in cream-colored leather, arranged in two rows of four. The layout draws clear inspiration from airline business class configurations, with the level of comfort and space sitting well above a conventional train seat.

Etihad Rail was quick to note, however, that "the seating featured is a mock one and can be altered before its actual launch." The design remains subject to change as the project moves toward an official passenger service rollout.

Is Etihad Rail’s passenger service operating now?

Etihad Rail began an introductory passenger service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on June 30, 2026. The journey takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

The wider passenger network is being introduced in phases. Dubai and Al Dhaid stations are scheduled to open on September 30, 2026. Stations serving Al Dhafra are expected to follow on December 30, 2026, with Sharjah station scheduled for March 30, 2027.

How much do Etihad Rail tickets cost?

Fares on the initial Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route start from AED55 in Comfort Class and AED120 in Premium Class.

Prices may vary by journey, travel date and availability. Tickets can be searched and purchased through Etihad Rail’s official website and mobile application.

Is it called Business Class or Premium Class?

The cabin revealed in 2024 was widely described as an Etihad Rail business-class concept. The commercial passenger service now uses the name Premium Class for its higher-tier cabin.

The earlier images therefore remain useful as a preview of Etihad Rail’s premium design direction, although the company had warned that the mock-up could change before passenger operations began.

What will passengers find onboard?

Etihad Rail says its passenger trains are designed with guaranteed seating, comfortable legroom, Wi-Fi and access to power at every seat. The onboard environment is intended to support passengers who want to work as well as those travelling for leisure.

Dining options are also planned onboard, while passenger stations are expected to include cafés, restaurants and retail outlets.

How many people can an Etihad Rail train carry?

Etihad Rail’s passenger fleet consists of 13 trains, with each train able to accommodate up to 400 passengers. The trains can operate at speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour.

The wider network is planned to connect 11 cities and regions between Al Sila in the west and Fujairah on the UAE’s east coast.

When will Etihad Rail open in Dubai?

Dubai Train Station is scheduled to open on September 30, 2026 as part of the official expansion of the passenger network.

Etihad Rail has said the stations will be integrated with other forms of transport, although passengers should wait for detailed local connection plans before assuming there will be a direct Dubai Metro interchange.

What remains unconfirmed?

Etihad Rail has confirmed the classes, introductory fares, phased opening dates and several core onboard facilities. More specific details may still vary by route, including full timetables, luggage allowances, meal inclusions, seat layouts and local transport connections.

Passengers should check Etihad Rail’s booking platform before travelling for the latest schedule, fare and service information.

UAE Passenger Train Network Coverage

The Etihad Rail passenger network will span 1,153 kilometres of track, linking 11 cities across all seven emirates. The route runs from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the east, with key stops including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah.

Journey times will be dramatically reduced. The Abu Dhabi to Dubai leg is expected to take around 50 minutes, as will the Dubai to Fujairah route — cutting current travel times by a third to a half and offering a greener alternative to road transport.

What the Launch Timeline Looks Like

No official launch date for Etihad Rail passenger services has been announced. The growing public attention around the business class preview has, however, heightened anticipation ahead of what would be a landmark moment for UAE infrastructure.

For the latest updates on routes, pricing, and launch schedules, Etihad Rail's official channels remain the primary source of information.
