The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi) has announced undergraduate admissions for its first-ever Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes, marking a historic milestone as IIT Delhi's first international campus. The two new programmes — BTech in Energy Engineering and BTech in Computer Science and Engineering — are set to commence in September 2024.

Two BTech Programmes Now Available

The BTech in Energy Engineering is designed around sustainability and modern energy production, preparing graduates to tackle global challenges in renewables and clean energy systems.

The BTech in Computer Science and Engineering emphasises Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and hands-on computational thinking — equipping students with the practical problem-solving skills demanded by today's technology sector.

Each programme has an intake capacity of 30 students, for a combined first cohort of 60 seats.

How to Apply: CAET 2024 and JEE Advanced 2024

IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi BTech admissions for 2024 are open through two pathways:

- CAET 2024 (Combined Admission Entrance Test): A dedicated entrance test for students in the UAE and internationally. The CAET 2024 is scheduled for June 23, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics over three hours. - JEE Advanced 2024: Indian nationals can also secure admission through their JEE Advanced scores.

The registration deadline is June 3, 2024 for the 2024–2025 academic year. Eligible applicants include Indian nationals residing in the UAE, UAE citizens, PIO/OCI cardholders, and international students who meet the academic criteria.

Admission Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must have achieved a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their Class XII board examinations, or rank within the top 20 percentile of their board. Additional criteria apply for UAE residents, including a valid EmSAT or SAT score.

Building on the January 2024 Master's Launch

The new BTech offerings extend the momentum of IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi's January 2024 launch of its Master's programme in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS). The campus is supported by dedicated research centres in sustainable energy and data analytics, staffed by faculty from IIT Delhi alongside local industry professionals.

Officials Highlight UAE Vision Alignment

Dr. Ahmed Sultan Alshoaibi of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEK) underlined that these programmes are directly aligned with the UAE's broader goals of technological and economic advancement.

Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, said the campus embodies a strong academic framework aimed at training future leaders in AI, digitalisation, and renewable energy — three pillars central to the UAE's Vision 2030 agenda.
