Brand Dubai, the creative division of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has unveiled a monumental 50-metre portrait at the DIFC Gate as part of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign. The installation celebrates the UAE's founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and coincides with key national occasions including Flag Day and Eid Al Etihad.
A Landmark Tribute to the UAE's Founding Fathers
The centerpiece of the installation is a towering 50-metre portrait depicting the founding fathers against the backdrop of the contemporary UAE — a visual representation of the nation they envisioned. The artwork is part of a broader campaign marking the UAE's annual National Month celebrations and reflects the continuing public appreciation for the visionary leaders who guided the country's transformation.
The photographs of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid at the heart of the mural were captured by acclaimed photographer Ramesh Shukla, whose work has long chronicled the UAE's extraordinary story. Shukla's images convey the spirit, intention, and historical legacy of both leaders.
Emirati Artist Brings the Backdrop to Life
The artwork's background was created by Emirati artist Maitha Demithan, who specialises in a technique that blends photography with mixed media to produce striking three-dimensional effects on a two-dimensional plane. Known internationally — from Dubai to Paris and South Korea — Demithan's contribution gives the installation a dimension that bridges tradition and the future.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, said the DIFC installation symbolises the unity of purpose that has defined the UAE's nation-building effort from the very outset. She noted that the artwork serves as a source of inspiration for future generations as citizens gather to mark Flag Day and Eid Al Etihad.
Saleh Al Akrabi, Chief Real Estate Officer at DIFC Investments Ltd, said the installation reflects how consistent leadership has guided DIFC in becoming one of the world's leading financial centres. He described the tribute as a celebration of the ideals of innovation and patriotism that defined the founding of the UAE.
