Dubai recreational plazas are now open in Lehbab 1, Lehbab 2 and Nazwah, following an announcement by Dubai Municipality under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The newly completed public spaces — spanning more than 330,000 square feet in total — introduce family-focused facilities, outdoor fitness zones, and landscaped gathering areas within established residential communities.
This rollout is part of Dubai Municipality's broader strategy to expand accessible green spaces and upgrade neighbourhood infrastructure. For residents in these districts, the plazas are ready for daily use, from children's activities to community sports.
What Is Inside the New Dubai Recreational Plazas
Each plaza has been fitted with a specific set of facilities tailored to its community. Lehbab 1 includes two football pitches, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a running track, a dedicated warm-up and multi-use area, outdoor fitness equipment, and two children's play zones with rubber flooring. Lehbab 2 features a football pitch, volleyball and basketball courts, a running track with integrated fitness equipment, and a children's play area with safe rubber flooring.
In Nazwah, Dubai Municipality completed comprehensive development works including ground levelling, newly designed surface installations, football, volleyball and basketball courts, a running track, and a children's play area.
Seating areas are distributed throughout all three sites to accommodate families and social gatherings. Landscaping plays a central role, with green coverage integrated throughout in line with Dubai's parks expansion strategy. Lighting and safety provisions ensure accessibility during evening hours, and the design prioritises everyday functionality for residents across Lehbab and Nazwah.
Linked to the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan
The development of these Dubai recreational plazas aligns with objectives outlined in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The strategy emphasises increasing the availability of public parks and community facilities within residential districts.
Dubai Municipality has continued to expand neighbourhood amenities to enhance quality of life. The Parks and Afforestation Strategy — which targets the development of more than 630 parks across the emirate — supports increasing green areas, with community plazas forming part of that framework. The strategy also aims to reduce heat emissions and strengthen Dubai's sustainability credentials.
The openings in Lehbab 1, Lehbab 2 and Nazwah represent the latest phase in this urban development approach.
Community-Focused Infrastructure
Public plazas serve a clear purpose within residential planning. They provide designated areas for children, structured fitness options for adults, and shared spaces for families. In districts such as Lehbab and Nazwah — areas characterised as part of Dubai's countryside — these developments place recreational facilities within immediate reach of residents.
The integration of running tracks, sports courts, and greenery supports daily outdoor engagement without requiring travel to larger city parks. Dubai Municipality continues to implement neighbourhood-focused projects that expand public access to green and recreational environments.
What This Means for Residents
For families in Lehbab and Nazwah, the plazas are fully operational and accessible. The inclusion of sports courts, fitness equipment, running tracks and landscaped seating areas adds structured outdoor options within the community.
As the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan progresses, similar public space initiatives are expected to form part of long-term infrastructure planning throughout the emirate. Dubai recreational plazas in these districts are now active components of the city's evolving residential landscape.
