One of Dubai's most iconic free attractions, the Dubai Fountain, is preparing for another significant upgrade in 2026 — and this time, developer Emaar is promising "brand-new surprises" that go well beyond a standard refresh.
What Is the Dubai Fountain Upgrade 2026?
After closing for five months in 2025 for essential maintenance, the world's largest dancing fountain is now entering phase two of its transformation. First announced by Emaar in September 2025, the next stage of improvements is expected to roll out by Q2 2026.
While full details remain under wraps, Emaar has confirmed that the new phase will introduce fresh elements and updated choreography to enhance the overall experience.
The revamp is expected to include:
- Advanced performance technology, including robots to precisely move the water and control the lighting - Refined choreography sequences - Upgraded sound systems - Enhanced lighting features - New visual surprises
The aim is to elevate both the aesthetics and the technical precision of the daily shows, ensuring the attraction remains one of Dubai's top must-see experiences.
No Full Closure This Time
Unlike the 2025 renovation, this phase is not expected to require a full closure. Visitors should still be able to enjoy the daily fountain performances while upgrades are implemented — good news for anyone planning a trip to Downtown Dubai in the first half of 2026.
A Look Back at the 2025 Renovation
Dubai Fountain previously shut down in April 2025 for major maintenance, including tiling upgrades, water insulation improvements, and repainting works. During that phase, Burj Lake was completely drained.
The attraction reopened on October 1, 2025 — ahead of schedule — refreshed and fully operational.
What to Expect From a Dubai Fountain Show
Located at the base of the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain remains one of the city's most spectacular free attractions. Each show features:
- Up to 22,000 gallons of water launched as high as 140 metres - 6,600 WET Superlights - 25 colour projectors - A total light output of 1.5 million lumens
The performance can be seen from up to 20 miles away, with beams of light illuminating the Downtown Dubai skyline.
Daily Show Timings
Afternoon shows: - 1pm and 1:30pm (Sunday to Thursday) - 2pm and 2:30pm (Fridays)
Evening shows: - Every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm
Across the day, around 13 performances take place.
Music That Spans the Globe
Over the years, the Dubai Fountain playlist has featured everything from international pop stars like Lady Gaga and Adele to classical composers such as Antonín Dvořák and Luciano Pavarotti. Arabic favourites, including Sama Dubai, have also formed part of the soundtrack.
With phase two of the Dubai Fountain upgrade 2026 set to introduce brand-new surprises, this year looks to be another landmark moment for one of the city's most photographed attractions.
If you're planning a visit to Downtown Dubai, expect the iconic fountain show to feel bigger, sharper, and more immersive than ever before.
