Low-cost carrier flydubai has made history as the first UAE airline to launch direct flights to Basel, Switzerland — and is now adding two Baltic capitals and two Iranian cities to its growing network, opening up new travel corridors from Dubai International Airport (DXB).

flydubai's New European Routes from Dubai

flydubai commenced Basel operations on 2 August 2024, flying four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from Terminal 3 at DXB. Emirates is codesharing on the Basel route, giving passengers broader connection options through Dubai's aviation hub.

Basel, straddling the French and German borders, is Switzerland's cultural capital — home to world-class museums, art galleries, and the famed Art Basel fair. The EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg also serves travellers crossing into France and Germany, making it a strategically well-placed hub for the region.

Baltic Expansion: Riga and Tallinn Flights

flydubai's Baltic push begins on 11 October 2024 with a three-times-weekly service to Riga International Airport (RIX) in Latvia, followed the next day by a three-times-weekly service to Tallinn Airport (TLL) in Estonia. Both routes operate from Terminal 3 at DXB. These four new European destinations grow flydubai's European network to 43 destinations across 21 countries.

New Iran Routes: Kish Island and Kerman

Alongside the European expansion, flydubai has added two Iranian destinations. A four-times-weekly service to Kish Island (KIH) — a free-trade zone popular for duty-free shopping — launched on 7 September 2024. A twice-weekly service to Kerman (KER), a city of significant historical and cultural heritage, began on 9 October 2024. Emirates codeshares on both Iran routes as well, with flights operating from Terminal 2 at DXB.

Fares and Bookings

One-way fares to Basel start from Dhs 1,115. Bookings for all new routes are open now on flydubai's website and app. The expansion reflects flydubai's continued push into Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, giving travellers from Dubai more direct options than ever before.
