Dubai Mall is set to grow even bigger this Ramadan with the addition of 65 exclusive retail stores and dining concepts, announced by Emaar Properties founder Mohamed Alabbar. The new section — confirmed by multiple UAE outlets as "The District" — opens at the start of Ramadan, marking one of the most significant near-term additions to the world's largest shopping destination.
Alabbar's Announcement
Mohamed Alabbar revealed the Dubai Mall expansion news via his Instagram account, writing:
> "Dubai Mall lovers! A fresh shopping section will arrive at Dubai Mall when Ramadan starts while bringing 65 distinctive retail stores and dining concepts."
The post quickly gained traction among shoppers and retail watchers across the UAE, underscoring the anticipation surrounding the mall's continued growth.
What the New Section Brings
The 65-venue expansion focuses on luxury brands, fashion, and premium dining. The aim is to enhance the overall retail and F&B experience at a mall that already draws tens of millions of visitors each year.
The addition is part of a larger Dh1.5 billion expansion of Dubai Mall announced by Emaar Properties in June 2024. That wider project will eventually introduce 240 new luxury stores and food and beverage outlets to the complex.
Dubai Mall by the Numbers
Dubai Mall currently spans 1.2 million square metres and houses more than 1,200 retail outlets. The mall recorded over 105 million visits in 2023, making it one of the most-visited destinations on the planet. The Ramadan expansion builds on that momentum, reinforcing Dubai Mall's position as a global retail benchmark.
