Dubai has officially launched the Dubai Orchestra Project, following its approval by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai's Executive Council. Announced on June 18, 2025, the initiative is set to redefine the emirate's cultural landscape and showcase Emirati talent on the global stage.
Sheikh Hamdan Approves Dubai Orchestra Project
The Dubai Executive Council ratified the project under Sheikh Hamdan's directive. In a statement, he said: "Art is a universal language that connects people and Dubai is a hub for initiatives that build bridges between cultures and celebrate creativity. We have approved the 'Dubai Orchestra' project as a key avenue for expanding international cultural collaboration."
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, announced the project as "a game-changer in the arts landscape in the region." She affirmed that the approval "marks a meaningful step in reinforcing Dubai's growing presence on the global cultural stage," adding: "The 'Dubai Orchestra' will enhance our community's exceptional talent and drive music's powerful role in celebrating our cultural diversity."
50% Emirati Membership Goal by 2033
A defining milestone of the Dubai Orchestra Project is its ambition to have 50 percent of members be Emirati talent by 2033. This target reflects the UAE's broader commitment to nurturing homegrown artistic excellence and preserving regional musical heritage on a world stage.
Dubai Culture & Arts Authority will lead the project in partnership with public and private sector organisations, rolling out youth-focused programmes, educational initiatives, and international collaborations designed to develop emerging musicians and deepen community engagement.

Strategic Alignment with Dubai's Vision
The Dubai Orchestra supports three major government frameworks: Dubai's Creative Economy Strategy, the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and the Dubai Social Agenda 33 — all of which aim to make Dubai the world's best city for living experience and cultural vibrancy within a decade.
Youth music development programmes, partnerships with educational institutions, and community organisation collaborations are all part of the rollout plan to ensure the orchestra grows from within the emirate's own talent base.
