Rizwan Sajan is an Indian businessman based in Dubai. He founded Danube Group, chairs Danube Properties and appears with his family in the Netflix reality series Desi Bling. His public story began long before television: he worked in Mumbai, spent eight years in Kuwait and rebuilt his career in Dubai after the Gulf War.
Netflix released Desi Bling in 2026 as a seven-episode reality series. The National's review identifies Sajan and his family among the Dubai figures followed by the programme. The show presents the public-facing, luxury side of his life; his business career is better understood through interviews published years before filming.
From Mumbai to Kuwait
In a detailed Gulf News interview, Sajan said he grew up in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, and began earning money while still young. He sold school books and stationery, sold firecrackers during Diwali and delivered milk. He said his father died when he was 16, leaving the family with a sudden loss of income.
A separate Gulf News business profile says Sajan moved to Kuwait in 1982 to work in his uncle's building-materials business. He started at the sales counter and later moved into outside sales, product management and general management. The article says he remained there for eight years.
Starting again in Dubai
Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990. Sajan told Gulf News that he returned to India with his wife and son before moving to Dubai by the end of 1991. He first worked for a hardware business and then traded between suppliers and buyers. He said the contacts and product knowledge he had built in Kuwait helped him find a place in the Dubai market.
Danube began as a building-materials trading business in 1993. It later expanded into other lines, including home interiors and property development. The company leadership page identifies Sajan as founder and chairman and says Danube Properties was established in 2014, tracing the group's expansion from building materials into property development.
His family and Desi Bling
Sajan is married to Sameera Sajan. Gulf News reported in 2021 that she accompanied him at Filmfare Middle East events and quoted him discussing her enthusiasm for Hindi cinema. The publication also identifies Adel Sajan as their son and a director in the family business.
On Desi Bling, the family is part of a larger ensemble. The programme brings their family relationships and Dubai social life into a new chapter of Sajan's public story.
His roots in India
Gulf News identifies Sajan as Indian and records Mumbai as the place where he grew up. His early experiences there, followed by eight years in Kuwait, form the starting point of his later Dubai business career.
