Muscat — SalamAir will begin direct flight operations from Muscat to Cairo on Saturday, June 15, 2024. The new SalamAir Muscat to Cairo flights will operate three times weekly to Sphinx International Airport, improving air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and Egypt.
New Route Strengthens Oman-Egypt Ties
The launch of this direct service marks a significant step in developing travel links between the two countries. SalamAir believes the new route will promote cultural and commercial interaction between Oman and Egypt, benefiting both leisure travellers and the large Egyptian community residing in Oman.
Captain Ahmed Al Shidhani, acting Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir, underscored the strategic importance of the route. "Direct flights aimed at making Sphinx International Airport open Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for Cairo's tourist attractions," Al Shidhani said.
Gateway to Cairo's Historic Landmarks
Sphinx International Airport provides convenient access to some of Egypt's most celebrated sites. Travellers arriving on the new service will find it easy to reach the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and the Egyptian Museum — landmarks that draw millions of visitors from across the Arab world every year.
Three Weekly Frequencies from Muscat
The Muscat–Cairo service will run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Passengers can book seats on SalamAir.com, via the airline's mobile app, or through authorised travel agents.
The route also serves the thriving Egyptian expatriate community in Oman, facilitating travel for students, professionals, and families while strengthening people-to-people ties and trade exchange between the two nations.
