Tunisian President Kais Saied formally received the credentials of Qatar's new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tunisia, His Excellency Zayed bin Saeed Al Kumait Al Khayarin, in a ceremony that officially marked the start of the ambassador's diplomatic mission.
Qatar Ambassador Presents Credentials to President Saied
The credential presentation ceremony took place in Tunis on 12 July 2024. By accepting the credentials, President Saied formally recognised Ambassador Al Khayarin's appointment and the commencement of his role as Qatar's top diplomatic representative in the country.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Al Khayarin conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to President Saied, along with His Highness's best wishes for the President's good health and happiness, and for the continued progress and prosperity of Tunisia's government and people.
President Saied Extends Reciprocal Greetings to the Amir
In response, President Saied entrusted Ambassador Al Khayarin with conveying his own greetings to His Highness the Amir. He expressed his wishes for the Amir's good health and for Qatar's continued progress and development.
The warm exchange of messages through the newly appointed ambassador underscored the strength of the bilateral relationship both nations have cultivated over many years.
Tunisia-Qatar Diplomatic Ties
The credential ceremony reflects the broader pattern of active and deepening Tunisia-Qatar relations. Qatar's Emir has visited Tunisia multiple times since President Saied came to power, and the two sides have repeatedly affirmed shared positions on regional stability and Arab cooperation.
The appointment of a new ambassador and the formal presentation of credentials to President Saied represents a continued commitment by both Doha and Tunis to maintain strong diplomatic engagement.
