Dubai Municipality has launched the region's first drive-thru laboratory service, slashing the time it takes to submit samples for testing and calibration by 90%. Where the process once took up to 10 minutes, customers at the Dubai Central Laboratory Department can now hand over samples directly from their vehicles in as little as one minute.
What Is the Dubai Drive-Thru Laboratory?
The drive-thru laboratory is a first-of-its-kind service in the region, introduced by Dubai Municipality to streamline how testing and calibration samples are received. Instead of parking, queuing, and entering the facility, customers pull up to a dedicated service window, submit their items, and drive away — all without leaving their car.
The service is located within the Dubai Central Laboratory complex and is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Hours are expected to expand depending on demand.

The drive-thru lab caters to a broad range of clients, including:

Hind Mahmoud Ahmed, Director of the Dubai Central Laboratory Department, said the unit was "designed with advanced and innovative mechanisms to deliver proactive laboratory services that exceed customer expectations." She added that it reflects the emirate's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency, streamlining service times, and implementing internationally recognised standards in laboratory testing and calibration.
The facility uses high-performance surveillance cameras and privacy-protection technology to ensure confidentiality during all sample-handling operations. Clear signage, designated pathways, and color-coded floor indicators guide customers through the complex, while a multilingual support team assists Dubai's diverse clientele.
30% Surge in Testing Requests Expected
Dubai Municipality projects a 30% increase in test requests, calibrations, and inspections during the first quarter of 2025 following the launch. The drive-thru service handles a wide variety of items, including food products, consumer goods, and electromechanical devices — all transported to the lab via specialised vehicles.
