It's summer in Dubai — and the best antidote to the desert heat is a frozen obstacle course. The Ice Obstacle Challenge Dubai returns for its 15th edition at Ski Dubai, Mall of the Emirates, on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Whether you're a seasoned racer or simply looking for something extraordinary to do this September, this event has a spot for you.
What Is the Ice Warrior Challenge?
The Ice Obstacle Challenge — also known as the Ice Warrior Challenge — has become a Dubai institution. Organised by Majid Al Futtaim and supported by the Dubai Sports Council, the event draws Special Forces trainees, serious athletes, and fitness enthusiasts every year. This year marks the 15th edition, and it's bigger than ever.
Participants tackle a 3.5 km frozen course packed with between 20 and 22 obstacles designed to push you to your limits. Expect wall climbs, crawling under vehicles, crossing ice, and full immersion in water at -4°C. Every participant receives a race number and a timing chip to record their finish time.
Who Can Participate?
The Ice Warrior Challenge at Ski Dubai is open to both competitive racers aiming for the podium and recreational participants who simply want a memorable morning. Wave starts begin at 6:30 am, and the event welcomes men and women between 15 and 60 years of age.
Elite competitors can target a sub-25-minute finish, while first-timers are welcome to take their time and soak in the experience — just maybe not the -4°C pool.
