Emirates has opened its first Emirates Travel Store in Hong Kong — and its first anywhere in the Far East — bringing the airline's signature retail experience to the Nexxus Building in Central. The launch on July 17, 2024 marks Phase 1 of a broader retail blueprint set to roll out across the wider Far East region and the airline's global network.
A New Kind of Retail Experience in Central Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Travel Store spans 1,500 square feet, arranged in an L-shaped, lounge-style layout with modern furniture and four dedicated customer service counters handling flight reservations, ticketing, and general enquiries. Trained travel consultants are on hand to provide personalised assistance for every booking.
Smart technology-powered self-service kiosks minimise wait times, while LED screens display the latest Emirates products and promotional offers. A photo booth lets customers capture shots against iconic Emirates-themed backgrounds — a nod to the airline's flair for experiential retail.
Premium Economy Showcase and Skywards Bonus
One highlight of the store is a Premium Economy Class seat display, giving customers their first-hand preview of the award-winning cabin. Emirates official merchandise and curated travel accessories are also available for purchase in-store.
To mark the opening, new Emirates Skywards members who enrolled via the in-store self-service kiosk between July 17 and July 31, 2024 received a bonus of 2,000 Skywards Miles — a strong incentive to sign up during the launch period.
What the SVP Said
The Travel Store was formally inaugurated by Orhan Abbas, Emirates' Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for the Far East. Speaking at the ceremony, he said:
> "We are very excited to officially launch the first Emirates Travel Store in the Far East in Hong Kong to provide better and superior services to our esteemed clients. The city has always been vital to us. Our first travel store in Central Hong Kong is our way of providing the esteemed customers with a superior travel retail shopping experience and an embodiment of Emirates' hospitality from point A to Z."
Abbas also noted that the store delivers on the airline's 'Fly Better' promise by combining advanced technology with personalised service from well-versed travel consultants.
Opening Ceremony
The inauguration at the Nexxus Building was attended by Shaikh Saoud Al Mualla, UAE Consul General in Hong Kong, and Sultan Alriyami, Emirates Area Manager for Hong Kong, alongside media representatives and trade personalities.
Hong Kong is a key market for Emirates: the airline currently operates 21 weekly flights between Hong Kong and Dubai, underlining the city's strategic importance to the carrier's Far East network.
Far East Expansion in Phases
The concept store model — combining personalised services, distinctive products, and the airline's hospitality signature — is designed to bring the Emirates experience closer to customers in East Asia. The Hong Kong location is explicitly framed as the first phase of a retail expansion that will extend across the broader Far East region.
