Etihad Airways has launched a major cabin crew recruitment drive for 2024, targeting more than 2,000 new hires by year-end. Announced on World Cabin Crew Day, the campaign sees the Abu Dhabi carrier looking to double the roughly 1,000 flight attendants it had already recruited in the first half of the year — a clear signal of the airline's rapid post-pandemic growth.
Global Cabin Crew Recruitment Campaign
Etihad has already brought on board more than 1,000 new cabin crew members in 2024 and is now pushing to match that figure again before December. The campaign spans open-day events in 23 cities across the globe, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Athens, Singapore, Vienna, Amsterdam, Dublin, Johannesburg, and Cape Town, running from June through the end of the year.
This Etihad Airways cabin crew recruitment push reflects the airline's broader expansion strategy, as it looks to keep pace with rapidly growing passenger demand in the region.
Career Benefits and Opportunities
Etihad's cabin crew currently represents 112 different nationalities, all based in Abu Dhabi. The airline offers a competitive package including a good base salary, fully furnished modern accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and generous staff provisions.
Beyond base pay, crew members benefit from discounts on meals, clothing, entertainment, car rental, and travel — perks that underscore Etihad's positioning as a premium employer in the aviation sector.
Career progression is a particular highlight: a third of Etihad's cabin crew have been promoted within the past year alone. Many have moved into corporate roles across departments including marketing, guest experience, network operations, aviation training, and finance.
Recognition and Network Expansion
Etihad's cabin crew took home the 2024 World Traveller Award for Best Cabin Crew in the Middle East, a recognition of the airline's consistently high service standards and hospitality.
On the network side, summer 2024 brings new routes to Bali and Jaipur from June, plus seasonal services to popular Mediterranean destinations including Mykonos, Santorini, Nice, Malaga, and Antalya. New crew members will serve on Etihad's modern fleet — Airbus A380s, Boeing 787-9s, Boeing 777s, and the Airbus A320/A321 family.
The airline's financial trajectory underlines why it is hiring at scale: Q1 2024 delivered an after-tax profit of Dh526 million (US$143 million) on revenue of Dh5.7 billion — a 21% year-on-year increase — with its operating fleet growing from 75 to 89 aircraft.
