The event marks the formal commencement of Al Mazrouei's tenure as the UAE's envoy to Baghdad and signals a renewed commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between the two nations.

During the credentials ceremony, Ambassador Al Mazrouei conveyed warm greetings on behalf of senior UAE leadership, including:

- His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates - His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai - His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court

The ambassador expressed the UAE leadership's sincere wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the government and people of Iraq.

Iraq Pledges Full Support for Ambassador's Mission

President Abdul Latif Rashid welcomed Ambassador Al Mazrouei and extended his own greetings to the UAE's leaders. He wished the UAE continued development and growth, and affirmed Iraq's commitment to providing all possible support to facilitate the ambassador's diplomatic duties.

President Rashid stressed Iraq's readiness to back the mission fully and wished the ambassador success in his work to enhance bilateral relations in various fields between the two countries.

UAE-Iraq Bilateral Cooperation

Ambassador Al Mazrouei stated that he considered it a privilege to represent the UAE in Iraq. He underscored his commitment to enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors and emphasised the importance of deepening the brotherly relationship between the two countries for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

During the meeting, both officials reviewed the current state of UAE-Iraq cooperation and discussed concrete ways to develop these partnerships further. Key areas of focus included:

- Economic cooperation and commerce - Education and cultural exchange - Security collaboration - Infrastructure development

Sustained Dialogue to Drive Future Progress

Both the ambassador and President Rashid stressed the importance of maintaining active dialogue at the political and business levels to address shared challenges and pursue common goals. The credentials presentation to Iraq's President followed an earlier ceremony in mid-August 2024 in which Al Mazrouei presented copies of his credentials to Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as part of the standard diplomatic accreditation process.
