UAE Achieves Full Parliamentary Gender Parity
One of the most significant achievements highlighted in the UAE gender gap report 2025 is full gender parity in parliamentary representation — placing the Emirates alongside global leaders such as Mexico, Nicaragua, and Rwanda. The UAE's political empowerment score reached 37.2%, earning it a ranking of 32nd worldwide in that sub-index. This result establishes a new benchmark for gender parity across the Middle East.
Women in Leadership Defy Global Decline
Gender progress in the UAE extends well beyond politics. At a time when women's access to leadership positions is declining globally, UAE women achieved a 4.5% year-on-year increase in promotions to executive levels, according to LinkedIn's Economic Graph data cited in the WEF report. This places the country in stark contrast to the broader international trend.
Women in the workforce overall have also seen sustained growth, with a 2% annual increase in participation and a rise in female hiring rates. These figures indicate that the UAE is channelling significant effort into broadening women's empowerment across every sector of its economy.
UAE Women Lead in Multi-Domain Professional Skills
The WEF report further highlighted that women in the UAE are 28% more likely than men to hold multi-domain professional experience, equipping them with a versatile skill set suited to a rapidly changing, AI-driven labour market. Female professionals in the Emirates are also more likely to invest in learning new skills and report greater confidence in using artificial intelligence tools than their male counterparts.
The UAE Gender Balance Council has mandated that the private sector place women in at least 30% of all leadership positions — a target that aligns with the momentum shown in these latest rankings. Taken together, the data from the 2025 Global Gender Gap Report underscores the UAE's sustained, multi-front commitment to gender equality that is raising standards not just regionally, but globally.
