Dubai Press Club and Dubai Media Academy launched a joint AI training programme in January 2025, equipping media professionals across the UAE and wider region with practical skills to navigate artificial intelligence's growing impact on journalism and content distribution.
AI Training Designed for the Modern Newsroom
The Dubai Press Club (DPC) partnered with Dubai Media Academy to deliver a series of interactive knowledge sessions exploring how AI reshapes media strategies. Through hands-on workshops, participants gained direct exposure to AI applications in content production, analytics, and distribution — turning abstract technology into practical newsroom tools.
Maryam Al Mulla, Acting Director of the Dubai Press Club, said the programme reflects DPC's vision to foster an innovative media landscape and empower media talents with new skills, advancing the sector's long-term growth.
Muna Bu Samra, Director of Dubai Media Academy, described the joint initiative as an important step in advancing media capabilities across the region, noting how participants applied AI to develop solutions that enhance content development and distribution systems.
Session One: From Lab to Newsroom
The first session, From Lab to Newsroom: Success Stories of AI in Media, spotlighted real-world AI deployments across the industry. Guest speakers from Forbes, CNBC Arabia, Ingram Micro, the American University of Science and Technology, and Dubai Media presented practical case studies in content creation, data analytics, and audience distribution — giving attendees concrete models to adapt in their own organisations.
Session Two: Addressing AI's Growing Challenges
The second session, The Turning Point: Addressing AI's Growing Challenges in Media, tackled the harder questions facing newsrooms today. Experts from Dell Technologies, Sky News Arabia, Asharq News, Al Bayan newspaper, and Abu Dhabi University discussed combating misinformation, bridging linguistic gaps, protecting intellectual property, and ensuring fairness in AI-driven media practices.
Dubai's Commitment to AI-Powered Media
The joint programme between DPC and Dubai Media Academy reflects a shared commitment to keeping the UAE's media industry competitive in a fast-changing technological landscape. Participants left with actionable frameworks for managing AI challenges while identifying new opportunities for innovation.
The initiative underscores Dubai's broader leadership role in the region's media development and its determination to foster cross-sector collaboration that keeps the industry future-ready.
