Dubai Press Club (DPC) recently organised a workshop titled "Generative AI and its Applications in Media," bringing together journalists and content creators to master the latest AI tools for digital storytelling and content production.
The three-hour interactive session was held in partnership with Dubai Future Academy, as part of a joint initiative between the Academy and the Dubai Future Foundation. Dr. Mohammed Qasem, Dean of Dubai Future Academy and Board Member of Digital School, hosted and led the training.
Hands-On AI Training for Media Professionals
Participants gained practical experience creating text, images, video, and interactive content using generative AI tools. The session introduced journalists and content creators to how generative AI can power high-quality, compelling storytelling — and explored the growing role AI plays across the media industry.
Acting Director of Dubai Press Club, Maryam Al Mulla, underscored the club's commitment to raising media skills in the digital era. "AI is now a vital media tool, and we are committed to equipping journalists with the skills to harness its potential," she said. "This workshop marks a significant step in enhancing media professionals' AI capabilities and driving advancement of Arabic media content."
Responsible AI Use at the Core
Dr. Qasem guided attendees through not only the benefits of AI but also its potential limitations, stressing the importance of responsible use to maximise efficiency. "The session addressed potential limitations of AI, highlighting the importance of responsible use to maximize efficiency," he noted, adding that media professionals now have access to the latest skills to produce AI-driven content that meets current industry demands.
Expanding AI Capabilities Across the Media Industry
Dubai Future Academy's collaboration with DPC's Media Talent Development Specialist Mahfoudha Abdullah Saleh was recognised as part of the club's ongoing effort to partner with top institutions and equip media talent with cutting-edge expertise.
The workshop forms part of a broader cycle of specialised programmes aimed at giving journalists more advanced skills in AI and digital media. As AI continues to reshape the media landscape, Dubai Press Club is positioning itself at the forefront of preparing professionals for the future of journalism.
