Dubai is set to become the global centre for artificial intelligence dialogue in 2026, hosting a landmark summit called "AI@70: Towards a Global Humanity" — a conference timed to commemorate seven decades since the 1956 Dartmouth Workshop that first established artificial intelligence as an academic discipline.
Dubai AI Summit 2026: What Is AI@70?
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, has directed the launch of the AI@70 conference. The event will take place during Dubai AI Week 2026, with official backing from Dartmouth College — the very institution that hosted the original 1956 workshop widely regarded as the founding moment of AI.
Sheikh Hamdan summed up the vision plainly: "The present era belongs to AI as its transformative strength powers through every aspect of life."
Bringing Together the World's Greatest AI Thinkers
The Dubai AI Summit 2026 is designed to convene the world's leading minds across academia, business, philosophy, and the arts. Rather than focusing solely on technical benchmarks, AI@70 will examine the scientific, ethical, and sociological dimensions of AI development — linking philosophical understanding to technological advancement.
The event positions Dubai as the primary global hub for shaping how AI evolves over the next 70 years, not just the next product cycle.
The Humanity Lab: An Eight-Week AI Incubator at DIFC
A centrepiece of the summit will be the launch of the Humanity Lab, an incubator programme hosted at the Dubai AI Campus within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The lab will run for eight weeks — deliberately mirroring the duration of the original Dartmouth Conference — and is designed to fuse art, philosophy, and technology to develop next-generation AI innovations that reflect progressive human values.
The Dubai International Financial Centre is organising the AI@70 event in collaboration with global advisory firm APCO. Together they will bring entrepreneurs, artists, researchers, and policymakers under one roof to redefine the boundaries of AI advancement.
Dubai's Growing Role in Global AI Governance
The AI@70 summit reinforces Dubai's growing stature as a leading metropolitan hub for future technology development and governance. The UAE has invested heavily in AI infrastructure, and hosting a summit of this historical significance — tied directly to the birth of the field itself — signals Dubai's ambition to lead not just in deployment but in the global conversation about where AI should go next.
With Dartmouth College's endorsement connecting the event to AI's academic origins, and DIFC providing the institutional backbone, the Dubai AI Summit 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most consequential AI gatherings in a generation.
