Instagram has rolled out one of its most requested updates ever: a Reorder Grid feature that lets you rearrange the posts on your profile. For years, profiles displayed photos in strict chronological order. Now you can drag posts into any arrangement you like, making it far easier to curate a polished, intentional feed.

What the Reorder Grid feature does

The tool, called Reorder Grid, was rolled out on Monday, June 8, 2026, and is now available on the Instagram mobile app. It lets you move posts around on your profile without deleting or reposting them, offering a simple way to redesign the look of your page.

Previously, the chronological layout limited how users could shape their grids. With this update, you can freely arrange posts to showcase your best photos, key moments or themed content in a more deliberate way.

How to reorder your Instagram grid

Using the feature is straightforward. Press and hold a post on your profile until a menu appears, then select "Reorder grid" to move posts into any order you want.

Crucially, the change does not cost you anything. Reordering preserves each post's original upload date, caption and accumulated engagement, so you keep your likes and comments. Pinned posts stay fixed at the top of the profile and are not affected by the rearranging option.

Why this matters for creators and brands

Meta, Instagram's parent company, has faced repeated requests for this feature over the years. Many users wanted more control over their profile aesthetics without deleting older posts or relying on third-party workarounds.

The new tool is built to make profile management easier and more flexible, especially for creators, influencers and brands who depend on visual presentation. It also aligns with Instagram's broader focus on giving users more customization options across the platform.

While the feature is currently limited to mobile devices, it is expected to become a key part of how people design and manage their Instagram presence. With this update, Instagram is shifting toward a more flexible content layout system, giving users greater freedom over how their personal or professional profiles appear.
