India's top food delivery platform Swiggy has launched an international login feature that lets UAE residents order food, gifts, and groceries directly for their families in India — using nothing more than a UAE-registered phone number.
Swiggy UAE: How International Ordering Works
Residents in the UAE simply download the Swiggy app and sign in using their UAE mobile number. From there, they can place orders for delivery to more than 700 cities across India — the same experience as ordering from within India.
Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, confirmed the feature at a media briefing in Dubai: "We deliver to almost 700 cities across India. People from here can place orders for delivery. This service has been live for a month now."
Payment is straightforward: customers can pay via international credit cards or India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Kapoor emphasized there are no extra charges for international users — it works exactly like placing an order from inside India.
Who the Feature Is Built For
The service is squarely aimed at the 3.9 million Indians living in the UAE — the largest expat community in the country. Many have family back home and regularly send money or gifts for birthdays, festivals, and other occasions.
"This is ideal especially for those with families back at their home country," Kapoor said. "One can order food, gifts, or groceries and pay with ease — making it simple to surprise your special someone."
Beyond food delivery, users can also book restaurant tables in India through Swiggy Dineout and access quick-commerce grocery delivery through Swiggy Instamart.
Expanding Globally: 26 Countries and Counting
The Swiggy international login is not exclusive to the UAE. The feature is currently available to users in 26+ countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Swiggy's Expansion Plans for the Region
While Swiggy does not yet offer delivery services within the UAE itself, Kapoor indicated the company's immediate focus is on expanding its delivery network within India before extending operations abroad.
He noted, with some surprise, that Indian localities named after UAE landmarks — including a "Dubai Mall" area in Kerala and a "Dubai Gate" in Telangana — are already active on the Swiggy delivery grid.
Through its international login feature, Swiggy is turning distance into a non-issue for expats who want to stay connected with family back home through the simple act of sharing a meal.
