UAE petrol prices for December 2024 have been officially reduced, bringing welcome news for drivers across the country. The UAE Fuel Price Committee announced that Super 98 and Special 95 will drop to their lowest levels of the year, effective December 1, 2024.
December 2024 UAE Petrol Prices
The new rates, inclusive of 5% VAT, are:
- Super 98: AED 2.61/litre (down from AED 2.74 in November) - Special 95: AED 2.50/litre (down from AED 2.63 in November) - E-Plus 91: AED 2.43/litre (down from AED 2.55 in November) - Diesel: AED 2.68/litre (up marginally from AED 2.67 in November)
Petrol grades are all lower this month, while diesel sees only a minimal one-fil increase — unlikely to have a material impact on transportation costs.
Depending on your vehicle and tank size, motorists will save between AED 6 and AED 10 compared to a full fill-up in November.
Super 98 Prices: A Full-Year Review
Here is the month-by-month breakdown of Super 98 fuel prices across 2024, inclusive of 5% VAT:
- January: AED 2.82 - February: AED 2.88 - March: AED 3.03 - April: AED 3.15 - May: AED 3.34 - June: AED 3.14 - July: AED 2.99 - August: AED 3.05 - September: AED 2.90 - October: AED 2.66 - November: AED 2.74 - December: AED 2.61
December's AED 2.61 is the lowest Super 98 price recorded in 2024, well below the May peak of AED 3.34.
How UAE Fuel Pricing Works
The UAE deregulated petrol prices in August 2015, removing government subsidies that had previously shielded consumers from global market fluctuations. Since then, the UAE Fuel Price Committee revises retail prices at the end of every month, aligning domestic rates with prevailing international oil market levels.
This market-linked mechanism means motorists benefit directly when global crude prices fall — as is the case in December 2024.
The December cuts came into effect on Sunday, December 1, 2024, and apply at all fuel stations across the UAE, including ADNOC, ENOC, and EPPCO outlets.
