There was disruption on the Red Metro line in Dubai on Wednesday morning which lasted for 2 hours. There was a problem in the movement of train between Al Khail Station and UAE Exchange Station.

There was no information provided by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in regards to the reasons for such delays. But they insisted that the services have returned to normality after the interruption that lasted for two hours.

The problems started around 6:2 and 19am and it made it difficult for those going to offices and work. To assist commuters to travel between the two stations, the RTA increased the number of buses.

On social media, people raised concerns that some of them had to spend hours in queues and there were few buses available. An individual stated that they had to hire a taxi since rail staff, signs, and buses were absent at the station.

One of the respondents mentioned, “No buses for 45 minutes at Dubai Internet City.” Another respondent was at a station with a long line.

On May 19, the RTA restored 3 of the 4 metro stations that closed in the previous month due to the rains and flooding. However the Energy station will not open again until 28th May due to some maintenance carried out on it.

The RTA has not provided more information on what transpired during the disruption of metro services during the busy morning hours on Wednesday.
